A "God Wink" in Glass

Do you believe in God Winks—those little signs from above that seem too perfect to be mere coincidence? I do. And one particular day, while treasure hunting for glass to repurpose into my art, I experienced one that left me smiling from the inside out.
I love frequenting second-hand stores, always on the lookout for discarded glass pieces ready for a second life. I rarely spend more than a couple of dollars—after all, my goal is to break and recreate. But this day was different.
At my church’s Bargain Box in Niceville, Florida, I spotted something special on the bottom shelf—two Lenox glass plates from the 12 Days of Christmas series. My heart skipped a beat. My grandmother had collected this very set, and I had nine of the twelve tucked away in a back closet at home. Could it be?
At just a dollar each, there was no question—I grabbed them without hesitation. The excitement carried me home in a blur. The moment I stepped inside, I was on a mission—digging out the plates from storage, carefully unboxing them, and laying them out one by one. And there it was… the two plates I was missing.
Tears welled up as I felt an undeniable nudge from my grandmother in heaven, guiding me to that shelf, to that moment, to that joy. But the story doesn’t end there—later that night, I hopped onto eBay, and as if the universe was wrapping up the story with a bow, I found the final missing plate to complete my collection.

Now that’s a God Wink. A beautiful reminder that love, connection, and little signs from above are always around us—sometimes, you just have to look down at the bottom shelf. 💙
