A Coastal Maine Inspiration: From Lobsters to Glass Art

When my nephew Robby was little, my sister had a playful little song for him:
🎶 Robby Robby Lobster, put him in a pot.Sugar him and butter him and eat him while he’s hot! 🎶
Now, before you worry—no lobsters (or nephews!) were harmed in the making of this memory. But this little tune always makes me smile because my sister, Susan, has called Coastal Maine home for years.
Maine, affectionately known as Vacationland, is a treasure trove of natural beauty and seaside charm. In the summer, wildflowers bloom everywhere, their colors dancing in the salty breeze. The sound of buoy-inspired wind chimes echoes across the docks, and lobster boats hum steadily as they navigate Mackerel Cove.
One of my favorite places to visit in Harpswell is the historic Cribstone Bridge made of stacked Granite slabs, an architectural wonder that has stood the test of time. Beneath it, the radical tide sweeps broken glass locals throw into the sea by the bridge, polishing each shard into something magical. And just beside the bridge sits the Salt Cod Café, where I love to spend time—beachcombing for sea glass, sipping coffee, and savoring their homemade scones!
With Susan’s deep love for her Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, I felt inspired to create something special just for her.
Can you guess what it might be? 🐾✨Hint… it’s not just a lobster!
